Unexpected Detours

Yesterday was unexpectedly awesome:
It was going to be another routine Sunday, with the music classes in the morning, and cleaning/laundry/cooking in the afternoon... or so I thought. Little did I know that a completely different day awaited me.
I went to class as usual, spent some time refreshing some concepts the students had apparently forgotten during my hiatus and wrapped up the class and got ready to head back into town. When I was walking out of the classroom, Tio Terencio popped up out of nowhere talking about 'Where have you been?! The whole family has been trying to call you for weeks!'
Apparently he didn't get the memo that I'd been traveling (I don't know how, I'm pretty sure I told everyone I was leaving, lol)...
Well it turns out that one of my cousins (my mom's younger sister's daughter) was having her engagement/hand asked for marriage event thingy and everyone and their mommas had come from all over the country for the gathering and I was the only one missing out. I had NO clue this was going on... all because I still don't have a cell phone (emailing is apparently not the norm here... ugh), so I was completely clueless that the whole thing was happening. I was like, 'when's the engagement?' Tio says 'It's happening as we speak!' so we hightail it to his house so that we could make some phone calls and try to intercept any latecomers on their way to the venue so they could make a little detour and pass by to pick me up (Tio Terencio wasn't going because he had a wedding to attend, and it's not his side of the family anyways. He's from my dad's side of the family)...
We finally found some random cousin who was barely on the way there and he passed by the house, picked me up, and we headed straight over to the engagement party.
I ended up attending the formal event with my jeans, tshirt, and dusty feet (I have to walk quite a trek after I get off the taxi to get to class), while toting my bag full of materials (recorders, eraser, chalk, foldable music stands, books, camera, etc.) but no matter. The important thing is that I made it :)
As is always the case in these kind of gatherings, I got to meet so many new relatives from my mom's side of the family which was an extra treat because I had no idea when would be the next time to have everyone together, seeing as how, unlike my dad's side of the family whose members are all concentrated in this city and sorrounding provinces, my mom's relatives are all over the country and rarely in one place at the same time.
I was so excited to meet so many ppl, I took as many pics as my camera's half-full battery would allow and filmed some of the folks having a good time... and yes, I will be posting those in the next post :)
I realize this post was full of run-on sentences and grammatical errors but I'm in a hurry to get out of here because I have to go meet the technician who's supposed to fix my air conditioner...
(that's a story in itself: It fell from where it was mounted on the wall. In the still of the night. And it scared a bunch of stray cats that like to dwell on my roof. It caused quite a ruckus and probably woke all the neighbors up... but anyways...)
And I gotta pee, hence the urgency in my writing. No, I don't want to continue writing after I pee. I wanna finish posting, shut down my computer, put my things away, and pass by the bathroom on my way out.
Ok, that's enough about me and my bladder. I'll be posting pics soon!

Ciao!
