Lovely Lumps of Crunchy Goodness

Yes, yes. I've been slacking. We all know it, so I'm just completely going to ignore the giant elephant in the cyber-room and skip right on to the story for today :)

Well so many things have happened since the last time I posted, mainly at work. I've pretty much been forced to hit the ground running and have already started tackling big projects and planning and preparing for more. As busy as they keep me, they make work so much fun... I'm never bored, I get to meet a lot of new people (part of my new role is to train personnel on some of the tools we use for operation improvements) and I get to travel quite a bit within the 3 branches under my watch. I just got to go to Cabinda last week and meet the team from there. The managers were excited about the projects we have coming up over there and I'm already thinking 100 miles an hour about everything we can potentially accomplish. Next on the list is Soyo, a city in the province of Zaire, where some of our land-based rigs are. It'll be nice to visit a whole new province... I hear good things about that place.
The Cabinda trip went well, although it was just for introductions and for the guy training me to hand over the projects he had been working on. From there, I came back to Luanda and hosted my first solo training/brainstorming/problem-solving event which was a huge success and got lots of good feedback from the global bosses. This week and next I gotta hold some more training sessions but they're not nearly as hectic as last week's was, what with the crazy 6:30 am - 8 p.m. days I was having and all.

On a different note, I'm thisclose to buying my plane ticket for my July trip. Can't wait to see yall again and cruise around the country on our awesome yearly vacation :) But seriously folks, how about we start planning it? It's getting pretty darn close!!!

On to the highlight of my day (other than my much-needed updating chat I had with mah sistah):
I was walking home today in the dark, against my better judgment (Dina's fault, she held me on the phone at the office until way after sunset), when I suddenly got drawn to some shiny lights glowing at me from the other side of the sidewalk: It was emanating from huge windows. Store windows. A brand new store in the neighborhood. Now, had it been a boutique, a car dealership, a jewelry shop, or any other kind of store (except for a bookstore, to be quite honest) I would've just kept right on walking. But it was a state-of-the-art spankin-new GROCERY store. I HAD to check it out, especially since it's only like 100 yards from my apartment. And it has a catchy logo and all. Anyhow, so I went inside, browsed the aisles, and raised my eyebrows in indignation at the high prices (but really, what grocery store in Luanda DOESN'T have high prices). I was about to walk back out and go home when suddenly I saw it. There, just around the shelf bend, it was staring back at me: A neat and shiny package full of lovely lumps of crunchy goodness: GRANOLA!!!
Man oh man... I'm pretty sure I let out a squeal of delight. I have been searching for granola for almost two years, and not only had it always been nonexistent in any and all grocery stores where I searched, people looked at me with the most clueless expression in their face when I asked about such a product. It was a completely unknown phenomenon to them. It was so sad.
But now, my search is finally over! My prayers have been answered! And what's more, they sell soy protein nugget thingies to make veggie meat with, and they sell SOY YOGURT!! Dude, I couldn't be happier with my new store. If I had arms that were a mile long, I'd hug the whole building. But I don't think mile-long arms would be very handy for anything else... I mean, just imagine, I wouldn't be able to type this post... I can't see what's on a computer screen from a mile away!
Ok, back from the completely unrelated tangent. So yes. That's my story for today. It is awesome. Be happy for me, thank you.
Gotta study some of the material for tomorrow and then gotta hit the sack.

Oh, and can anyone guess what I had for dinner today? that's right... GRANOLA!!!

Nothing Much

MONDAY'S POST:

Tomorrow is a holiday again! So today was a regular day at work... now I'm at home, staying up late, chillaxing, surfing the web, working on more documents for my project etc. I get to sleep in tomorrow, take it easy, get some errands done... it'll be grand. So right now I'm just working hard for that money... trying to be responsible and whatnot...

I gotta start planning the trip... it's coming up soon!
